Stories of Jude

St. Jude mission

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has been treating patients for more than 50 years.  And while the doctors and researchers have made great progress in treating many catastrophic childhood diseases, there's still work to do.
And that's where you can help.  It takes millions of dollars for the life-saving treatment and research that happens every day at St. Jude.

Hannah is living proof of the work done each day at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.   The Tennessee Valley teen has been at St. Jude since September undergoing treatment for stage 4 Hodgkin Lymphoma.
She's doing well. Research done in these labs has helped push the 5 year survival rates for Hodgkin Lymphoma to between 90 and 95 percent.
Since Danny Thomas founded the hospital 52 years ago, the overall survival rate of childhood cancers has increased from 20 percent to 80 percent.
The medical staff treats about 300 patients every day and up to 8-thousand each year.

It now costs nearly 2-million dollars per day to treat those patients and continue groundbreaking research that's saving lives of children like Hannah.

Tania Mize, Hannah's mom, "it's been amazing.   St. Jude is just a blessing."

And no family ever receives at bill for anything involved in the patient's care, from medicines and treatments to living expenses groceries and gas.

Elnora Le, patient's mom, "mom: my children have had surgeries, medical braces, different kinds of shoes, dental work, you name, we've had to have it. Medicines they take on a daily basis. Never had to pay for it"

The hospital relies on donations to make that possible.

And fundraisers like the St. Jude Dream Home keep the hospital running raising $270 million dollars since the program began 13 years ago.

For just a $100 donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, you have a chance to win this beautiful home or one of 14 other prizes.  But more importantly you're making a difference in a child's life.
