WEATHER UPDATE: Slight risk of severe storms Friday

Posted: Updated:

Showers and storms will develop tonight to the west of us.  These storms will move closer early Friday morning.

The Storm Prediction Center has issued an alert for the area on Friday for a slight risk of severe storms.  The best chance will be for strong gusty winds and hail.  The chance for tornadoes will be slight.

Stay tuned starting Friday morning.  The rain amounts should not be that heavy.  I am expecting on average a third of an inch to one half inch with only isolated spots of 1" depending on where the storms form.  Highs on Friday will be in the 70's with a mild low of 61 tonight.  Winds will be brisk on Friday with gusty south winds shifting to the north by evening.

Skies will clear off Friday night and Saturday will be quite pleasant.  Highs should be in the mid 60's with mostly sunny skies.  Clouds will increase Saturday night with a good chance for some rain developing on Sunday night.  Highs will approach 70.  Monday should be wet with mainly rain showers and an occasional thunderstorm.  Rain amounts will be heavier with 1 to 1.5" possible. Highs Monday will be near 70.

Tuesday through Thursday should be dry with highs in the 60's through Wednesday and highs in the low 70's Thursday.  Some places may see some scattered frost Tuesday morning through Thursday morning.
