Cherokee Ridge raises money for student medical expenses

Posted: Updated:
WALKER COUNTY, GA (WRCB) -
Joeson Bramlett,  an 8-year-old 2nd grader at Cherokee Ridge recently received a bone marrow transplant at Duke University Hospital.  He was diagnosed with Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD).  Joeson is the son of Tammy Hicks and Shawn Bramlett.

The school is organizing several fundraising events to help cover the estimated medical expenses.  If you would like to donate, go to http://www.cotaforjoesonb.com/

With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant families are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure.  The Children's Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-related expenses.

The school recently made a human blue ribbon in honor of Joeson.
