Dalton police release image of suspect vehicle in shooting

Posted: Updated:
DALTON, GA (WRCB) -

The Dalton Police Department is investigating to determine who was driving an SUV that investigators say was involved in a March 22 shooting near Fredrick Street.

The SUV, which appears to be a green Eddie Bauer edition Ford Expedition, was captured by a surveillance camera behind a business at Underwood Street and Meeting Street leaving the scene of the shooting.

The Fredrick Street shooting was the first of two that happened that night in Dalton, but investigators do not feel the two incidents are related. The second shooting left one man dead and another man wounded at the Las Delicias bar on Morris Street.

The incident was reported to police at approximately 9:50 pm on March 22. The victim, 21 year old Julian Hosea Moore, told investigators that he and his friends were walking across Meeting Street when a dark colored SUV pulled up with five people inside.

One of the people in the SUV asked if the group had any PCP.  After telling the man that they did not have any drugs, Moore and his friends cut through a field towards Fredrick Street.

Moore told investigators that two Hispanic males then got out of the car and ran towards him.  Moore says that one of the men shot him in the shoulder, and afterwards the other showed a knife and demanded money.

Moore did not have any money, and the two men ran back to the SUV. Moore told investigators that his friends, who he refused to identify, ran away and left him. Moore told investigators that he then went to a home at 219 Fredrick Street where the resident called 911.

An investigation into the incident began immediately.  Moore was transported to Hamilton Medical Center and is expected to make a full recovery.

Anyone with information on the suspect vehicle or this incident is asked to please contact Detective Chris Tucker at 706-278-9085, extension 165.
