UPDATE: Thirty year-old Joshua Fowler has been charged with felony murder Monday in the death of his 74 year-old grandmother.

Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson says he bludgeoned his grandmother Joyce Fowler to death.

Joshua Fowler was on parole for drug charges.

Officers were called to Fowler's house 36 times since 1996. Most calls were due to her alarm system going off, although there were some domestic threat, prowler and theft calls.

UPDATE: Walker County deputies responded to 77 Mimosa Drive in Chickamauga, GA about 6:45 p.m. Saturday evening on a welfare check of a 75-year-old female.

Upon entering the home a Walker County Deputy located the home owner, Joyce Ann Fowler deceased in the master bedroom.

Evidence at the scene indicated Fowler died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Witnesses saw Fowler's grandson 30-year-old Joshua Michael Fowler, of LaFayette, GA at her home early Saturday morning. The time of his presence at the home is closely related to Mrs. Fowler estimated time of death, according to Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson.

Joshua Michael Fowler, was arrested at 5:30 Sunday morning at his LaFayette, GA home by parole officers, sheriff's office deputies and the G.B.I.

Joshua Fowler was arrested on a parole violation warrant and booked at the Walker County Detention Center.

Fowler is a suspect in his grandmother's murder but has not been charged with murder at this time.

G.B.I. and Walker County Crime Scene Specialist spent Sunday afternoon  processing Joshua Fowler's 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe for additional evidence.

The G.B.I. crime lab will perform an autopsy on Mrs. Fowler Monday morning in Decatur, GA.
