Seatbelt saves teen's life after SUV flips multiple times
Chattanooga police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who they say caused a serious wreck Friday.
The crash happened around 9 a.m. Friday on Highway 153 southbound between Amnicola Highway and Bonny Oaks Drive.
Police say the driver of a dark blue or black VW Jetta clipped a SUV and kept driving. The SUV flipped multiple times before finally coming to rest by hitting the back of a tractor trailer.
Remarkably, the 18-year-old driver walked away physically unharmed from her mangled SUV. An officer on the scene said her seatbelt saved her life.
The teen driver told Channel 3 she saw the hit-and-run driver pull off near the Bonny Oaks Drive exit looked back at the wreck, got back in the car and kept driving.
Call Chattanooga police if you know the driver of the car police say is responsible for this crash.
The right lane of Highway 153 was closed for about an hour to clear the crash.
