Elderly man tied up and robbed in Chatsworth home invasion

Posted: Updated:
MURRAY COUNTY, GA (WRCB) -

A 75-year-old man named Jeffrey Welch heard a knock at the door. When the victim answered, he was knocked to the ground and tied up with duct tape.

Investigators says, he called his grandchildren and told them he needed their help to break free.

When Jessica and Jeffrey Jr. arrived to his home on Sitton Rd in Chatsworth, they saw their grandfather visibly shaken and crying.

He told them, the two suspects barged through the front door and said, "if you don't give us all your money and guns , you are going to die."

His grandchildren say, he cooperated by telling the two suspects where to find the family's safe that had cash and eight guns close-by.

The Welch's say, they don't understand why anyone would do such a thing to their grandpa who is now scared to go to sleep at night until those responsible are behind bars.

The Murray County sheriff's Office is encouraging anyone with information regarding this case to call their tip line at (706) 695-4592
