Firefighters with the Red Bank Fire Department spent the early morning hours battling a structure fire.

The call came in at 2:45 a.m. Saturday of a house fire on Piedmont Circle.

Fire units from Walden's Ridge and Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department were called in to help a short while later.

Thanks to a smoke alarm the two elderly people living in the home along with their two dogs made it out safely.

The fire started in the attic burning a hole in the roof and making the house unlivable.

The Red Cross has been called in to help the residents.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
