Members of the Hamilton County Board of Education voted Thursday to
take their dispute over past-due liquor taxes with the city of
Chattanooga to court.
Board members voted 8-1 to allow Board attorney Scott Bennett to sue the city in chancery court for the $11-plus million it says the city owes in unpaid liquor by the drink taxes.

The proposed property tax increase would be 2.00 mills in the unincorporated locations of the county and 2.189 in the incorporated areas.
