A UTC student is facing charges after reportedly striking and killing a man while on spring break in Panama City.

Police say 18-year-old Bruce George, a freshman at UTC, was traveling on Thomas Drive when he collided with a scooter, driven by 22-year-old Brandon Beverly of Knoxville.

Beverly was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

George was booked into the Bay County Jail on DUI manslaughter charges.   He was released on a 100-thousand dollar bond.

University officials say George will face student disciplinary action from the school.
