It was a big time for some parents and students in Cleveland, Tuesday night during a celebration for students involved in the Bradley County Schools Leadership Initiative.

The program is in 11 elementary schools, and starts teaching leadership skills in kindergarten.

The program focuses on setting goals, keeping logs of accomplishments, and studying great leaders.

Tuesday night, a large crowd gathered at the North Cleveland Church of God to salute two students in the program.

"I think children aspire to greatness, naturally. We just need to give them that opportunity. So, that's what we're doing, tonight. We will step back and let them take charge of the program," says Sheena Newman, Supervisor of Elementary Education.

In addition to being supervisor of elementary education for Bradley County Schools, Newman is the author of "Leaders For Life" and has received several grants and built local partnerships to fund the program.
