Purchase of the former Harriet Tubman by the city is approved by council
The Chattanooga City Council unanimously approved the purchase of the former Harriet Tubman site, Tuesday night.
The city will buy the 36-acre property from the Chattanooga Housing Authority for 2-point-6 million dollars cash
It's hoped the revamping of the East Chattanooga site will renew the Avondale Area.
Mayor Andy Berke plans to demolish the existing structures and make the site suitable for business and to market it as a place to draw jobs to the scenic city.
