Bradley Co. chief deputy critically ill, sheriff asking for prayers

BRADLEY COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -

Bradley County Sheriff Jim Ruth announced Friday the county's chief deputy, Wayne Bird, is critically ill and has gone on medical leave.

In a release Sheriff Ruth said, "Chief Bird has been invaluable to me personally and to our agency in organizing a well trained, well led, well developed sheriff's office to fight and prevent crime."

Ruth is asking for prayers from the community for Bird and his family.

No specifics were given on Bird's illness.
