Grundy Co. man say he wasn't given all his property back from the Sheriff's Office

Posted: Updated:

A local man is speaking out against the Grundy County Sheriff's Office, telling them he wants his property back. The angry gun owner says, 20 rifles and shotguns were confiscated because of a law he didn't know existed. He was granted his property back but says 3 antique guns were missing.

Richard Childers feels someone that has access to the evidence room isn't processing items on purpose and maybe pocketing them instead.

The Grundy County Sheriff Brent Meyers says, "the TBI is now investigating what happened. I'm not sure if the remaining three even existed and having them at the time was breaking the law. The bottom line is the man's son is a convicted felon that was living at home and it he isn't supposed to be around weapons."

Richard says, when his son got out of jail he opened up his home from him to come and stay. He regrets not mentioning that guns were inside, but feels that doesn't justify them not returning his property.
