UPDATE: Fire shuts down part of U.S. 27 near Summerville

CHATTOOGA COUNTY, GA (WRCB) -

Chattooga County dispatch says a fire south of Taylor Ridge has shut down part of U.S. 27. Georgia State Patrol is rerouting traffic.

At least one lane is open, but motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route.

Chattooga County firefighters and the Forestry Service have the fire contained, but are expected to be working the fire throughout the night.

No word yet when the road will be fully reopened.
