OAK RIDGE, TN (WBIR) - Burglars ran away empty-handed after trying to destroy an Oak Ridge ATM machine using a stolen truck and dozer on Christmas morning.

Oak Ridge police said the thieves tried to knock over a Y-12 Federal Credit Union ATM machine near the Tractor Supply on 467 Oak Ridge Turnpike. The suspects first tried using a stolen truck to knock the ATM off the concrete pad. When that didn't work, they tried unsuccessfully to tear apart the ATM using a Bobcat dozer.

Officers said dozer and truck were stolen from Waste Connections on Warehouse Road. The thieves didn't steal any cash from the ATM, but they did cause over $50,000 worth of damage trying to get to the cash.

Police haven't identified the suspects yet.
