Cool mornings, mild afternoons

Posted: Updated:

Good Thursday.  After a cold start, we should have another day of sunshine and mild weather this afternoon with highs reaching about 50.

We will cool down rapidly tonight with lows once again dropping into the mid to upper 20s.

We will be even warmer Friday and Saturday with both days sporting highs in the mid 50s, and mostly sunny skies both days.

Saturday evening, we will have clouds building ahead of our next weather system.  That will bring rain showers to he area overnight Saturday into Sunday morning.  Temps Sunday morning will be in the upper 30s, so it should be all rain with no snow.  Rainfall amounts will range from 1"-2" with the heavier amounts being just south and east of Chattanooga.  Sunday's high will be 51 degrees.

The front will move through Monday morning, and will bring another blast of cold air Monday afternoon with highs only reaching about 40.

Looking ahead to New Years... I expect clear skies at midnight Tuesday into Wednesday with temps around 32 degrees.  New Years Day will be sunny with a low of 28, and a high of 45.

(WRCB) - Good Saturday. While we have seen a few light sprinkles this morning, the bulk of the rain stayed east and south of the area, and I think that will continue to be the case. For the rest of the day we can expect mostly cloudy skies with a high today of 74. We will see our winds increasing behind the front to 10-20 mph from the northeast.Tonight, the winds die down, and we will see some clearing heading through the overnight.More

Parts of the area remain under Frost Advisories and Freeze Warnings. I don't think we are looking at any widespread problems this morning, but patchy areas of frost are certainly possible, especially in the Blue Ridge.More
