Police still searching for mom and pop grocery robbers

ROSSVILLE, GA (WRCB) -

Police are still searching for suspects more than two weeks after a brazen armed robbery at a mom and pop grocery store.

Investigators with Walker County Sheriff's Office told Eyewitness News two armed suspects threatened employees and demanded money from The Grocery Shoppe in the 1400 block of Wilson Rd. on the night of December 8. The suspects are still on the loose.

"Right now we don't have any suspects and have received no tips," said Capt. Steve Rogers.

Store video camera caught two masked gunmen running inside the store, aiming their pistols at two store clerks while cornering them behind the cash register with their hands in the air.

While holding the clerks at gunpoint, one suspect grabbed the safe and the pair ran out of the store. Rogers said the suspects covered up well.

"They're wearing a mask, and their hoodie was pulled up over the mask," he said.

The suspects are of slender build, between 5'7'' and 5'9''. With little description to work with, investigators are honing in on the suspects' clothing.

"One of them was wearing a pretty descriptive jacket," said Rogers.

He's hoping someone will recognize the jacket to help track down the suspects and give nearby residents some peace of mind.

"It could be my neighbor, I don't know," said Billy Hudgins, a store regular who lives down the street. He told Channel 3 the robbery puts him on high alert.

"It makes you uneasy," Hudgins said.

Investigators hope to make an arrest before the pair hits another store.

"It's possible we'll see them again and they'll rob another store," said Rogers.

If you recognize the suspect's jacket or have any information about the robbery, call the Walker County Sheriff's Office at (706) 638-1909 ext. 253.
