Spy Baiting the Duo Realis Spinbait 80

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - A new very effective clear water finesse technique out of Japan is called "spy baiting" or "silent capture". Baits used for this technique run like a submarine and is possibly where the name spy baiting comes from.

Spy baiting involves making long casts with a lure designed especially for this technique. The bait is then counted down to the right depth and then slowly retrieved trying to keep it at the level where the fish are feeding but not hanging on the bottom.

Using lighter lines with this technique is a must. The baits used with this technique do not have a lip to keep them down in the water column so the higher diameter lines will create too much resistance and cause the bait to come to the surface. Most anglers using this technique say a 4 to 6 lb diameter fluorocarbon line is about the correct size to use.

One such bait designed by Masarhiro Adachi is the Duo Realis Spinbait 80. It is built with two smooth-running props and is perfect for light line finesse techniques, including the new Japanese technique of "spy baiting". Built with internal fixed ballast, the Duo Realis Spin bait 80 stays deeper for a longer period of time than a traditional prop bait, and also sinks on the pause with a tight wobbling action. And if that wasn't enough, the props add another element of attraction by producing a strong pulsing as they whiz through the water. Complete with two razor-sharp treble hooks, the Duo Realis Spinbait 80 is another example of how Duo Realis remains at the forefront of bass fishing.

Looking for something new to try, sounds like spy baiting might be fun, interesting and possibly a new very effective fishing technique to show the fish something they have not seen before.
