CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

Volunteers, family and friends of veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice took time Sunday to place wreaths on the headstones at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The non-profit 'Wreaths Across America' is behind the nation-wide movement.

Local representatives of each branch of the military participated in the ceremony.

Organizers say it's a way to remember fallen heroes, honor those serving, and teach future generations about the sacrifices made by veterans.

This is the eighth year of the wreath sponsorship campaign.
