UPDATE: Tuesday night earthquake downgraded to 2.8 magnitude

UPDATE: The U.S. Geological Survey has downgraded the earthquake recorded Tuesday night to 2.8. The tremor was originally reported to be slightly stronger at 3.10.

A minor earthquake hit the southeast part of Tennessee just before 7:00p.m. Tuesday.

The US Geological Survey reports the epicenter is located 6 miles SSE of Wildwood Lake, TN, 11 miles SSE of Cleveland, TN and 18 miles NNE of Dalton, GA.

The earthquake was located roughly 2 miles underground.
