Father and Son Dominate Heartland Anglers Season Opener on Nickajack

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - Thirty-seven teams headed out at first light Saturday morning from Sullivan's boat ramp to take part in the first tournament of the season for the Heartland Anglers Nickajack Division.

The father and son team of Tom Kizziah III and Tom Kizziah walked away with first place and $680. The pair brought in a five-fish limit weighing 24.18 pounds to take the win.

"We fished jerkbaits on main river points all day to catch the fish we weighed in." Says Tom Kizziah

The duo also had second big fish of the tournament with a largemouth bass weighing 5.46 pounds.

Taking second place was the team of Haden Lamb and Nick Pratt with five fish that weighed 18.40 pounds. They also won the overall big fish with a largemouth bass weighing 5.98 pounds.

"Heartland Anglers is an amateur based team tournament trail designed for the everyday average angler. Heartland Anglers is a team tournament for the type of angler who gets up everyday, heads to work and puts in a 40 hour work week", says Doug Pressley - Heartland Anglers President.

1st - Tom Kizziah and Tom Kizziah III - 24.18 lbs.
2nd - Haden Lamb and Nick Pratt - 18.40 lbs.
3rd - Don Lamb and Gary Carter - 16.86 lbs.
4th - Jeff Swartout and Brad Quinn - 16.52 lbs.
5th - Chris Layne and Gabe Yeargan - 15.32 lbs.
6th - George Cimminale and Corey Curtis - 14.80 lbs.
7th - Buddy Gross and James Millings - 13.60 lbs.
