Firefighters from several units in Hamilton County battled a house fire on Signal Mountain Tuesday night.

An official says the call came in around 7:00p.m. of a fire at 3905 Anderson Pike.

Walden's Ridge Emergency Services (WRES) answered the call.  When firefighters arrived they reported 25 percent of the house was on fire, and heavy smoke was coming from the attic.  Mutual aid was called.

Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the fire, but the roof structure was heavily damaged and they were unable to save the house.
The house is considered a total loss, the damages estimated at $250,000.

The house was unoccupied and up for sale.

The cause of the fire is under investigation
