A new national movement focused on giving back to others is taking over the country. It's called Giving Tuesday.

Giving Tuesday is a campaign only in its second year and it's held every year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

Giving Tuesday is national movement that encourages people to give their time, money or services to charities with the same attitude they take towards shopping on Black Friday.

The movement is a response to the Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday retail shopping days.

In order to participate you're asked to give a donation of time money or services to an organization or charity, and then tweet about it using the hashtag #GivingTuesday.

Giving Tuesday helps raise money for local, national and international charities, but it's also a great way for people to learn more about programs, organizations and charities that will impact their local community.

Non-profits, for-profit businesses, religious or community groups can all participate. You need to commit to a project that will benefit at least one other charity or non-profit.

A few national and local organizations participating in Giving Tuesday are Goodwill, Salvation Army, Acts Outreach Ministry Inc, Hope & Help International, The Transformation Center and to find more Chattanooga organizations that are participating in Giving Tuesday click here.
