Record lows this morning?

Posted: Updated:

(WRCB) - Happy Thanksgiving!  The record low for today in Chattanooga is 19 degrees set in 1956.  We will have at least NEAR record lows around the region with temps in the 10s and 20s this morning.

Fortunately, the winds have all but dissipated, but with temps this cold, even a breeze of 3 mph could make it feel about 5 degrees colder than the actual temperature.

One thing to look out for this morning is patchy areas of ice on porches and driveways.  I don't think ice on the roads will be a big deal, but walking to your car or into the office, be wary.

This afternoon, we will have sunny skies, and a chilly high of 44.

Heading out for the deals this evening, expect temps in the 30s, and if you will be standing in line tomorrow morning to get a laptop for $5, make sure you have the hat and gloves.  Temps will be in the low to mid 20s Friday morning.

Friday afternoon, we will start to see light southerly winds that will allow for some warming heading into the weekend.  Look for lows in the 30s and highs in the 50s starting Friday afternoon.
