McCallie edges Cleveland in OT

Posted: Updated:

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WRCB) -- Adrian Thomas scored 20 points and hit the go-ahead basket in overtime to lift McCallie to a 69-66 win over host Cleveland in the finale of the 2013 MurMaid Mattress Classic Wednesday night at the Raider Dome.

Kendrick Thompson hit a late 3-pointer late in regulation to pull the Blue Raiders even at 63-all and force OT, but the Blue Tornado (3-1) used a 6-1 run in the extra period to pull out the win.

Down 65-63 with just under three minutes left in overtime, Thomas scored four straight points to put McCallie ahead to stay. JaVaughn Craig added a put-back for some breathing room to cap the game-winning spurt.

Jordan Atkins was the only other Blue Tornado player in double figures with 14 points.

Thompson finished with 24 points to lead all scorers, while Anfernee Scott chipped in 11 for Cleveland (0-2), who was still short-handed with several key contributors still playing football.
