CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Boyd-Buchanan basketball fell one win shy of a state tournament appearance last year in Class A, but the Bucs certainly look the part of a state championship contender so far in 2013-14.
Austin Walker scored 14 points to lead the Bucs to easy 65-36 rout of visiting Notre Dame Tuesday night. Eleven different players scored for Boyd, but Colby Arendale was the only other one in double figures with 10 points.
The Bucs, who also own a win over McCallie this year, raced to a 39-15 halftime lead over the Irish, who are still playing short-handed while several players work there way back after football season.
Tyler Bird led Notre Dame with 25 points.
Hall Allen, one of Boyd's leading scorers from a year ago, scored six points on 2-of-3 shooting from behind the 3-point arc in his first game of the season. The starting point guard missed the first two weeks of the season with a foot injury.
