Georgia Police to start wearing body cams

Posted: Updated:

If you interact with a police officer in Georgia, smile, you might be on camera.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources say they made a "good investment" when they purchased body-mounted cameras for police officers.

Officials say the devices, called "vid-mics," record both video and audio and serve multiple purposes.

They guard the public from abusive police practices and also protect officers from false accusations.

Officials say Georgia officers are not required to tell citizens they're being recorded.
