CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - The 9th annual Forgotten Child Crappie Tournament was held at Harrison Bay State Park this Saturday, November 23, 2013. The event was hosted by local area anglers to help the Forgotten Child Fund collect toys for families who need a little help providing Christmas to their children.

Over 30 anglers battled high winds and falling temperatures to come out and participate in this year's event.

Forgotten Child Fund is an annual project of the Chattanooga Police Dept., and later the Chattanooga Fire Dept became enthusiastic participants which now provide Christmas gifts for over 7,000 area children.

Tournament directors Dave Ohms and Jim Edmister said, "We would like to thank everyone who supported this cause, and we are sure this will give some child a very nice Christmas." This is the main reason we have tournaments like this"

The team of Thomas Henshaw and Ashley Showers took first place with a total weight of 8.4 lbs. They received TowBoat US. Memberships for the win. The duo also won the overall big fish pot and $75 with a crappie that weighed 2.75lbs.

Finishing in second place was the team of Brian Howard and David East with a total weight of 7.40lbs. Second place received two Lews reels from Soddy Custom Tackle.

Third place went to the team of Cody Benton and Dennis Edward with a total weight of 7.40lbs. Cody and Dennis received a rod and reel combo furnished by Hamiltons Sport Shop for their finish.
