Residents of Red Bank discuss use for former Middle School property

Posted: Updated:

Jim Wulf, Red Bank resident, "We need a boost in Red Bank. We need it because there's a lot of areas around us that are getting nicer and getting bigger, and we need to grow along with that, also."

And there's an opportunity with a large chunk of real estate basically the last piece of undeveloped land along Red Bank's main street.

Thursday night, community members gathered to discuss possible plans for the site Red Bank Middle School used to occupy.

There's limitless potential, and there are a number of ideas.  From a public park to a shooting range, even a mixed-use site with a library, an open-air market, and a Ferris wheel.

Mike Cong don, Red Bank resident, "We've got a once in a generation shot at developing this piece of property and making it something that the city is proud of, that the residents are proud of, and that the people are gonna want to come see and visit and spend money here. That's kinda the big thing."

Red Bank Mayor John Roberts tells us, the city will take its time to get this decision right. And this was the first of several meetings they'll have, calling for ideas.
