UPDATE: Police are investigating an accident this morning on Lower Mill Road in Hixson that left one man dead.
Chattanooga Police have identified the victim as 26-year-old Brandon Wilkins. He crashed almost half a mile away from his home.
The Dodge truck ran off the road and crashed down an embankment near the railroad tracks.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man in his 20's dead inside. They believe the crash happened sometime over night. Sergeant David Gibb said he could've been trapped for 10-12 hours before anyone noticed the wreck.
"It's a pretty steep embankment and pretty secluded road. It's a possibility nobody saw him," Sgt. Gibb said.
"This kind of wreck not highly uncommon, we have cars go off of ditches and sometimes not find them for a day or two," he said. "We had one similar to this on the S-Curves 10 plus years ago. And that's what prompted the speed cameras on the S-Curves."
The road was closed to traffic for more than two hours are investigators combed the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
"These things never get easy," Sgt. Gibb said. "I'm in my 25th year now. I still get bothered by them. They're senseless deaths."
