CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

UPDATE: Chattanooga Police have identified the woman struck by a vehicle on Highway 153 Wednesday night.

Forty-five year old Deani Jackson Locke was walking near the left lane of travel, in the north bound lanes, when she was hit by a driver who was traveling north in the left lane.

Jackson apparently was retrieving an object dropped from her motorcycle when she was hit by a truck driven by 43 year-old Eddie Gene Davis.

The accident happened about 9:00pm near the Target in Hixson.

Locke was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the driver truck initially thought he had struck a deer, but turned around to discover that it was a person.

Police say, contrary to what witnesses told us on the scene, the driver did not leave the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
