UPDATE: Chattanooga shooting victim identified

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

UPDATE: Chattanooga Police have arrested Claude Alvin Thomas for the shooting at 3907 15th Avenue from Monday night. 

Police tell Channel 3 that Thomas has been charged with aggravated assault and attempted first degree murder for the shooting of Jonathan Smith. 

Smith is still in critical condition at this time.

 


 

Chattanooga police are investigating a shooting that happened Monday night at 3901 Dodds Avenue.

Officers responded to the call around 8:40p.m. 

When they arrived they found Jonathan Smith inside a vehicle parked at Big Daddy's. He was suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck.

A female was also found, but she was not injured.

"She was screaming, and you couldn't understand her, and she asked me could I call 911, and four people had already called, and I said, 'Sweetie, help is on the way,'" says witness Destiny Wooten.

Smith was taken to the hospital for surgery. His condition is not known.
