Tennessee Tech Takes Top 2 Places in Tennessee Collegiate Bass Trail Tournament

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - Tennessee Tech grabbed the top 2 places in the Tennessee Collegiate Bass Trail tournament held at Chester Frost Park Saturday November 16th . The team of Matt Townson and Joe Ellis from Tennessee Tech University caught a 5-bass limit weighing 19.82 lbs. to win first place and $800.00. They also got $100.00 bonus for being the highest finishing Tow Boat US member and $80.00 for the second biggest largemouth weighing 6 .28 lbs.

Second place and $350.00 went to the Tennessee Tech team of Chris Thomas and Ryan Harper with a 5-bass limit weighing 16.06 lbs.

Third place went to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga team of Tyler Watson and Calvin Bridges with a total weight of 12.64 lbs. They collected $200.00 for third place and they also caught big bass of the tournament weighing 7.27 lbs. good for an extra $200.00.

This was the 3rd of 8 tournaments for the Tennessee Collegiate Bass Trail with its championship tournament to be held in May of 2014.

UTC Mocs Bass Club President Lance Geren said "Our purpose is to promote the sport of bass fishing and to provide an opportunity for all students to participate in competitive bass fishing at a collegiate level. Being a part of the UTC Mocs Bass Anglers will allow members to compete against club teams at other colleges and universities in a sport that we all love. We realize that our generation is responsible for the preservation and growth of competitive bass angling and therefore make it our goal to represent our sport, our sponsors, and our university with class and enthusiasm".
