Ft. Oglethorpe family mourns the loss of a loved one after overnight fire

A Fort Oglethorpe family is mourning the loss of a loved one after an overnight fire ripped through their home Friday night.

The Perry family stood outside Saturday morning still in shock and devastated after finding out emergency crews was unable to revive 64-year-old Frankie Perry. Perry was trapped upstairs.

The Catoosa County Fire Department believes the blaze may have started in the basement.

Seven people were inside, including a 1-year-old, a 17-year-year old, the family pet and the homeowners, Frankie and Lawrence Perry.

The couple purchased the home on Beaver and Cloud Springs Road in Fort Oglethorpe 20 years ago and were married over 40 years.

As they now prepare to put their beloved Frankie to rest sometime later this week. The Perry's say, "We are a strong Christian family that appreciate all the support and prayers we can get."
