Volunteers pack boxes for Operation Christmas Child

Posted: Updated:

Six thousand, that's how many boxes were packed full of toys for Children Across the World.

Its an endeavor that takes all year to plan for but as we saw Saturday, volunteers of all ages are more than willing to help.

Red Bank Baptist Church looked more like Santa's workshop as dozens of volunteers stuffed toys into boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Among them, 5-year-old Elizabeth Fraker

"I'm going to pack shoe boxes to give to countries," she says with spirit .

The boxes will be packed onto trailers and taken to headquarters before they're shipped across the globe.

"Some children that have never received the most basic necessities are going to open these boxes for Christmas and receive things that we take for granted everyday," coordinator, Tonya Greer says.

Tis the season for giving. "Its giving stuff that's special to kids that don't have that stuff," says Fraker.

Organizers say they'll begin planning and collecting items for next Christmas in a few weeks.
