Band of the Week: Heritage High School
The Legion of Generals always put on a big show! Heritage High School is the newest of the high schools in Catoosa County, but their marching band has already developed a reputation for having big numbers, a big sound, and an outstanding marching show.
Director Blair Callaway tells me the group is around 180 members strong this year with the numbers spread pretty evenly between classes. He says the students have a great work ethic and just get better everyday!
Their halftime show for this season was entitled "Out of this World" and utilized music from Star Trek and Holst's The Planets. The band marched in competitions at Hendersonville, Tennessee, at Jacksonville State University, and in Rome at the Peach State Marching Festival. Last year, the Legion of Generals went to San Antonio, Texas, so Mr. Callaway tells me, they are taking this spring off. But, if you would like to support the band, check their website for a 'restaurant of the month' club. Your dining out could help fund a future trip!
The group entertained us from the stands with the tune "One Way or Another," click on the video and enjoy. Our thanks to the Heritage High School Legion of Generals for a great performance!
