Salvation Army has record need for Angel Tree

Posted: Updated:
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

It's not even Thanksgiving; yet, some are already out Christmas shopping as they search for that perfect gift for everyone on their list.

However this year, The Salvation Army is asking that you add one more name to it.

The angel trees are now up and ready for adoption. It's a record year for The Salvation Army as they prepare to adopt out over 5,400 angels this year. That's 500 more families than last year.

They tell Channel 3 they've taken on the challenge and hope the Chattanooga, Cleveland and North Georgia areas will jump on board to help fulfill the need.

They say you can put a smile on someone's face without breaking the bank.

"Most of the time it's not anything big; it's Barbies or cars or slippers or pajamas, things you can easily obtain to be generous with," Kimberly George, Director of Marketing and Development, Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army is also encouraging businesses, organizations and churches to adopt multiple angles, for a corporate tree.

You can get an angel at Bradley Square Mall, Hamilton Place Mall and North Gate Mall.
