CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WRCB) -- It's usually not hard to pick Becca Reuter and Brooke Copeland out of a crowd in the Bradley Central High School hallways.
They're the two inseparable 6-foot-3 girls with flowing blonde hair.
"We go by the 'Twin Towers' a lot. That's what everybody calls us," Reuter said.
It's not the most creative nickname, but it's extremely accurate.
"I think that gets old, but everyone thinks we're sisters anyway," said Copeland.
And rightfully so. Even their head coach sometimes gets confused about it.
"I'm very proud of everything these girls have accomplished," said Bradley head coach Jason Reuter. "Becca is my daughter, but I've joked that Brooke might as well be."
They two had never played together before high school, but it didn't take long for them to become an unstoppable force.
The talented tandem combined for 30 points and nearly 20 rebounds last year while helping the storied Bradley Central program snap a 12-year state tournament drought.
"They go at it every day in practice. They'll knock each other down and then help each other up. They understand it's not personal. It's competition," their coach said. "They're both competitors, and iron sharpens iron. I think that's a good analogy for these two girls."
That competitive spirit also formed an unbreakable bond.
"She pushes me every day to be better," Copeland said. "I don't think I'm as close with anyone as I am with Becca. We're really, really close."
That bond proved crucial off the court over the past year as each one emerged as a highly-touted college recruit.
"We got to go through that whole process together, which was fun and interesting because it can be a little stressful," Reuter said.
That journey culminated Wednesday morning when they became the first two Bearettes to sign Division I scholarships in the same year since the mid-90's.
"It was huge just having someone there to relate to me and the stress that comes with everything," Copeland said. "And to have here with me on signing day, it's been really sweet."
But while they share this next step together, they also realize they're taking a step apart. Reuter signed to play for Middle Tennessee State next season, while Copeland inked papers to play in the SEC for Florida.
"It's definitely a bittersweet day. I love everything here at Bradley so much, but I'm excited for the next step. It's really special, though, to be able to share it all with my best friend.
"I'm glad we're doing it together."
The good news is they'll still be playing together for the next five months. Of course, that's bad news for everyone else on Bradley Central's schedule.
"I'm sure there will be a lot of congratulations at the end of the year, but I know no one will shed a tear when they move on to college," Jason Reuter said. "I may shed a few though. I'm going to miss these two tremendously, but I don't want to think about that just yet.
"We're going to focus on this year and enjoy each game that we play."
