A surprise decision at South Pittsburg city council meeting

Posted: Updated:

Another city's decision surprised residents Tuesday night.  A South Pittsburg officer is off the job Tuesday night, and the city administrator has been re-instated.

The South Pittsburg city council met for the first time following the arrest of city administrator, Sammy Burrows.

Officer Paul West arrested Burrows late Friday for speeding, reckless driving, and resisting arrest..

In an interview with Channel 3 Monday, Burrows said the arrest was tied to quote, "internal power struggles."

A motion was made to terminate West, and the council approved.

Some members of the community say the council made a mistake.

It's not certain which charges Burrows still faces.
