Cold, blustery weather moving in today.

Posted: Updated:

Good Tuesday.  Grab your jacket!  You may not need it first thing this morning, but by the time you are heading home this afternoon you will be glad you did.

An approaching front will bring us clouds this morning, and a SLIGHT chance for a sprinkle or flurry (nothing that will stick).

The main impact with this front will be cold, windy weather this afternoon into tonight.

Winds will be increasing, blowing from 15-20 mph from the north in the Tennessee Valley.  In the mountains, sustained winds will reach 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.  A WIND ADVISORY is in effect or parts of the Cumberland Plateau until 6pm CST.

This evening, the winds may subside a bit, but it will still be blowing from the north at 10-15 mph.

Cold air will move in with the strong winds.  Temps will stay in the 40s through the first part of the day, than begin to plummet from 3pm on.  By 8pm, our temps will already be in the 30s, and we will continue to cool into the mid 20s by Wednesday morning.  A FREEZE WATCH is in effect through tomorrow morning for North Georgia.  This is not the first freeze we have seen in Chattanooga.  The low dropped to 30 degrees on the morning of October 26th.

We will stay chilly all day Wednesday with sunny skies and highs staying in the 40s.

We will slowly warm back into the 60s by the end of the week.

For the weekend we will have mild temps, cloudy skies, and maybe a shower or two.

The best chance of rain will be Monday when showers and storms move through with a front that will also bring more chilly air next week as well.
