Officers are thanking a woman for taking action when a robber tried to snatch lottery tickets from a Catoosa County gas station. The store clerk was able to stop the robber with quick thinking, and a hard jab. And even at 9 months pregnant, all the action did not seem to phase her.

We are protecting her identity, but had to share her story.

Sunday at a Catoosa County convenience store, the would-be robber walked in and asked the clerk for five $20 lottery tickets. "And when I looked down, he snatched them out of my hand," she said. "And I proceeded to hit him and knock him on the floor."

As she yelled for her mother, who was also working the desk, to call 9-1-1, the bad guy started to pick himself up. "It was like he couldn't believe that I had even hit him," said the clerk. "I mean, honestly, I can't believe that I even punched him. That's not my nature."

What was she thinking? Perhaps her Mama Bear instinct kicked in. The clerk share with Channel 3 what went through her head in that moment. "Okay, I'm 9 months pregnant, I've got a 6 year old at home, I need to protect myself," she explained. "So, that was the only thing I knew to do was punch him."

Whatever the case, she does not advise anyone follow her lead. "Just let it go and give `em what they want," she said. "Honestly, just let `em have it. Don't try to hit `em because that could have been a lot worse than what it was. You know, he could've had a gun, he could've had a knife, it really could've been a lot worse."

The incident is still under investigation in Catoosa County.
