TFP: John Allen resigns at Central
HARRISON, Tenn. (WRCB) --
Veteran head football coach John Allen has resigned his position after three seasons at Chattanooga Central, our media partners at the Chattanooga Times Free Press reported Monday.

Allen, who also had head coaching stops at Silverdale Academy, Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe and Bradley Central, posted a 10-21 record in his three-year tenure with the Pounders. This year's five wins equaled the combined win total of the previous two years and resulted in the school's first playoff trip since 2010.

Central (5-6) lost at Sequoyah 34-3 last Friday night in the opening round of the Class 4A state playoffs.

Allen took over the program following Sam Montgomery's departure in 2010. His replacement will be the Pounders' fourth head coach in the last six seasons.

Report: Hamlin fired at Coahulla Creek
DALTON, Ga. (WRCB) --
Coahulla Creek will open the search for the second head football coach in program history after firing Jared Hamlin.

Athletic director Rhett Parrott confirmed the move to the Dalton Daily Citizen on Monday, three days after the Colts' season-ending 42-16 loss to Adairsville.

Hamlin started the program from scratch at the new school in 2011. Coahulla Creek played a junior varsity schedule in its first season, then went just 4-16 the past two years in varsity play.
