Emmer, Cooley file lawsuit against city and Chief Dodd

Posted: Updated:

There are new details involving two former Chattanooga Police officers fired for using excessive force.

Sean Emmer and Adam Cooley were fired in November of last year for beating halfway house inmate Adam Tatum.

The two officers have now filed a federal lawsuit against the city and Police Chief Bobby Dodd.  They say Dodd's comments about them have prevented them from finding new jobs.

Last month an administrative judge ordered the officers to be reinstated to the force, a decision the city has since appealed.

While the officers will remain off the force at least for now, they will receive back and forward pay until the appeal is decided.
