The US Army has agreed to put off the closure of ROTC programs at three Tennessee universities.
The delay will provide time to show the programs can meet the Army's needs.
The three ROTC programs are East Tennessee State University, Tennessee Technological University and also UT Martin.
The Tennessee programs were among 13 the Army announced it would close around the country over the next two years.
Tennessee Senator Bob Corker is weighing in on the topic. Thursday, he applauded the US Army's decision to delay closure of the programs.
He also pointed out in a statement that these programs have produced some of our nation's best and brightest leaders.
The Senate will vote at noon on whether or not the government shutdown will end.
