Baylor student wins $10,000 Nordstrom Scholarship
Baylor School senior Darby Schumacher is a winner of a $10,000 scholarship from Nordstrom.
Since 1994, the Nordstrom Scholarship Program, TEN4U, has awarded college scholarships to hard-working high school students from across the country. Each of the 80 annual awards is worth $10,000 ($2500 per year for four years) and can be applied to the college of the student's choice. Schumacher is still undecided on which college she will attend.
Among her many accomplishments, Schumacher is a member of Baylor's Round Table literary discussion group, Student Council, and the cross-country team. She is also a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist; a regional, national, and international science award winner; and was named Miss Metropolitan for 2014.
Nearly 12,000 students competed for the awards by completing an application accompanied by a personal statement and an original essay. Selected finalists are interviewed by a regional selection committee consisting of educators, business leaders, community partners, and Nordstrom representatives.
