Crime Stoppers: Woman Robbed at Bus Stop

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WRCB-DT) - In this week's case there are no pictures nor surveillance video, but we are hoping the promise of reward cash and anonymity will shake loose a few new leads.

The victim in this case was waiting for a Megabus outside of Eastgate around 8:00 Sunday afternoon," said Chattanooga Police Sgt. Craig Joel. The bus was running late, so the woman went inside to use the restroom.

When she returned, she says she was surrounded by three men who began to heckle her and cursing at her. Then they struck. "Based on her comments, one to all three of them actually snatched a backpack off of her," said Sgt. Joel, "and they pulled hard enough that they actually broke the strap on the backpack in their attempt to get away with it."

The trio took off. Inside the backpack were a laptop and a cell phone. "She had her daughter check and track that cell phone," Joel added. "The cell phone was still in the area of Eastgate at least up to 8:30 and then they lost all track of it; all signal."

We are seeking the three the victim described as being medium to dark complexion males. One of them wore plats in his hair. A clue to who they are may come from what the victim thinks she saw them drive away in. "She believes she saw them leave in a green to an aqua colored mini van from the lot," explained Joel, "but she couldn't get the make or model of it."

Does any of that information ring a bell with you? If so, do the right thing and call Crime Stoppers: 698-3333.

There is up to a thousand dollars up for grabs and no one, not police, not your friends, nor your enemies will know you made the call.
