KUB and TVA anticipate that Knoxville-area customers will enjoy lower power bills in the coming months than they did a year ago.

The Tennessee Valley Authority announced that its monthly fuel cost rate for November will be 25 percent lower than it was for November 2012. Knoxville Utilities Board spokeswoman Leslye Hartsell said KUB passes along whatever savings or cost increases it incurs from TVA, so that will help lower customers' bills.

KUB spokeswoman Andrea May said residential customers' bills will be about 6 percent lower this winter compared to last year. The average customer's monthly bill is expected to be about $116, compared to about $124 last winter, she said.
