Man accused of Renegade Mtn murders was recently released from prison

Posted: Updated:
CUMBERLAND COUNTY, TN -

We're learning more about the man accused of killing four people in Cumberland County last month.

Jacob Bennett is charged with four counts of premeditated murder.

Authorities say he shot and killed three teenagers, and a 22-year-old on Renegade Mountain.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against him.

And we're learning he hadn't been out of prison long before his arrest for the murders.

In 2010, Bennett was sentenced to five years in prison for theft and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Jail records show Bennett tested positive for drugs and prescription painkillers while incarcerated.   But he was released on parole nearly 2 years early.

Bennett is expected back in court on the murder charges in November.
