Ex-captain from Murray County Sheriff's Dept sent to Federal prison

Posted: Updated:
MURRAY COUNTY, GA (WRCB) -

A former Murray County sheriff's deputy will spend one year in federal prison for obstructing an investigation.

Michael Henderson is one of the officers accused of assisting in planting drugs on a car.

The charges stem from a 2012 case involving former Murray County magistrate judge Bryant Cochran.

Henderson admitted to tampering with a witness while employed by the department.

He has since been fired and charges against the driver were dismissed.

Henderson will report to federal prison in January.
